The Doomsong Legend

The sword named Doomsong was pulled from the world of an ancient saga. Many people want it. Most for evil purposes. But only the good may bear it in times of peril. And danger is at now at every turn. Finn’s return voyage from the Middle Sea to the Cold North coincides with the eruption of a volcano – as Master Odo predicted. Finn helps to save folk on his island, but as they escape, heading south, he is attacked and the cargo knarr Guillemot is blown off course. The Doomsong sword comes into quiet Seren’s hands.
Back in her homeland, Seren learns she has inherited Celtic oak-knowledge and becomes a Guardian of the Sword. Initially she tries to hide it, but her own life is in jeopardy and her Wessex folk are in danger. Seren knows she must protect the sword and take it to a place of safety, but everyone she meets wants it and she cannot trust anyone. Not even her dearest friend when he comes to find her.

Reviews

The Doomsong Legend, is a brilliantly crafted work of historical fiction interwoven with folklore and a touch of fantasy. I can wholeheartedly recommend this fascinating series—and especially this captivating third volume—to all lovers of myth, history, and adventure.
John Broughton, historical novelist.

The Doomsong Legend is a thoughtful and morally attentive work of mythic fantasy. It is patient where other novels rush, and serious about the responsibilities its characters inherit. Rather than offering a simple resolution, it leaves the reader with a sense of continuity — of stories handed on, of choices echoing beyond individual lives. In doing so, it honours the traditions it draws from while carving out a space that feels distinctly its own.
Review by Mary Anne Yarde

Drawn by the force of the sword and her charge to protect it, Seren must navigate dangerous waters in order to find a place where the sword can finally rest safely until the day its rightful owner claims it. Excellently written, vividly portrayed, The Doomsong Legend keeps you wondering where and how this will all end.
